About the event

Creating systems to produce your own compost is a life-enriching way to work with your growing space and its natural cycles. Joyful, practical and resourceful, composting can transform household and garden waste into the most perfect resource to feed your soil’s beneficial organisms, improve soil structure and in turn dramatically boost the health of your plants. This workshop will inspire and empower you to create a composting system that works for you; will give you the confidence to select and use a broad range of ingredients and enable you to overcome common barriers to integrating this practice into your weekly rhythm. Composting can be a magical process and Jess and Amy from Heart and Soil Community can’t wait to share their passion with you through this hands-on, informative and mindful workshop.

The workshop is from 10am – 1pm, with a short tea break mid-way. Afterwards, from 1.00-2.00pm, you are invited to stay on for lunch by the pond for more composting chat with Jess, Amy and your fellow participants.

Lunch

Bring your own, or order a Wasted Kitchen lunch* for £6.50.

(*The Wasted Kitchen lunch is either soup or dhal and bread, depending on what is available locally and in season at the time. Suitable for vegetarians. For other dietary options please contact us).

Your Trainers - Amy Poole and Jess Martin from Heart & Soil Composting

Amy is a permaculturalist who supports the community of New School Canterbury to connect with the land by growing fruit, vegetables, trees and flowers. Much of her work is focused upon care of the soil. Jess is a florist who turned to flower growing using organic principles as a way to address the environmental impact of her industry.

Jess and Amy are both passionate about, and committed to, building soil and community, and keeping local waste as a local resource.
