About the event
Description of the Workshop
These days many of us find ourselves having to cut back on luxuries. Gardening and getting new plants does not have to be one of these. This workshop aims to remove the mystery from propagation and show you how to make plants for free. We will be looking at the why, how and when of propagation. We will cover 4 main methods:
• sowing seed
• plant division
• cuttings (soft wood, hard wood and root)
• layering
The course aims to be as practical as possible, making full use of the lovely Langdon garden. My aim is for you to go home with a pot of planted seeds, a piece of divided plant and at least one cutting. If you have secateurs, it would be useful if you could bring them along. All other equipment etc will be provided. Questions will be very welcome.
Sliding Scale Ticket Pricing
With this workshop we are trying out a 'Sliding Scale' ticket system to enable more people to access it. There are three ticket options:
- £60 - Pay It Forward (Pay a little more to help us in our mission to be accessible to as many people as possible)
- £45 - Standard Price (Pay the standard price)
- £30 - Reduced Price (Pay a reduced price if you're unable to pay the standard price at the moment)
If you would love to join us but are unable to pay the lower price ticket at this time, please get in touch as we also offer a limited number of free places.
Timing and Lunch
The workshop is from 10am – 1pm, with a short tea break mid-way. Afterwards, from 1.00-2.00pm, you are invited to stay on for lunch by the pond for more gardening chat with your trainer and fellow particiants.
For lunch you can bring your own or order a Wasted Kitchen salad plate for £6.50. (The Wasted Kitchen lunch is a selection of salads and dips that lead with seasonal, local and excess produce. Suitable for vegetarians. For other dietary options please contact us).
Workshop Facilitator - Gail Rowlands
My name is Gail. After teaching for 30+years I decided to follow my dream and garden. Over the years I have developed several gardens all on the Begged, Borrowed and Stolen method!! I am passionate about working with and for nature. I am also passionate about sharing gardening knowledge with others and demystifying as much of horticulture as I can. Since 2019 I have had the joy of developing the garden at Langdon using all the methods mentioned above.
